Fees and payments
FairGame earns one of two ways on a tournament, never both: either you pay to publish it, or entrants pay an entry fee through FairGame Payments. Which one applies is decided by the registration model you pick under Manage → Registration.
Prices quoted here are the ones the app quotes; the pricing and FAQ page is the public reference.
The publish charge
Under the organizer-funded model, publishing the tournament is the paid moment. The rules:
- A tournament with 16 teams or fewer publishes free, forever, however many you have already run.
- Larger tournaments cost 1,200 kr. per team beyond the first 16 — the first 16 are always free, so growing one team past the cap costs one team's fee, not the whole roster's.
- Your organization's first tournament is free at any size. A tournament of 16 teams or fewer is free anyway and does not use it up, so the allowance is spent by the first larger tournament you publish. Collecting entry fees through FairGame does not spend it either.
- Federation plans (the annual Special Association agreement) are billed separately and never hit this charge.
- A voucher from FairGame covers one larger tournament instead.
The charge is one-time per tournament and it also covers publishing the schedule. The Settings page quotes the real number for your tournament at its current size, against your organization's actual billing standing — so a first-time organizer is never quoted a charge they will not see.
If a payment is already open for the tournament, finish that one. You are not charged twice.
Choosing who registers and who pays
Three models, chosen under Manage → Registration:
| Model | Who enters | Who pays | Typical event |
|---|---|---|---|
| You pay per team | You add teams, or clubs sign up free | You, at publish | Youth cups paid by the host |
| Clubs pay at registration | Visiting clubs register through your link | The club, at checkout | Youth cups paid by the visiting clubs |
| Participants register themselves | Each participant signs up | The participant | Adult events |
Under either paid model there is no per-team publish charge — FairGame Payments takes its transaction fee instead.
What one entry is
Separate from who pays, because a padel pair and a club's under-13 squad are different shapes of entry whoever settles up:
- A club's team — clubs enter squads, and entrants pick their club when they register.
- A team with no club — friends, workmates, an old-boys side. Whoever registers names the team.
- A pair — two people, named from the players themselves. Padel, beach volleyball, doubles.
- One person — each entrant signs up as themselves.
How the fee is charged and split
Once per entry means whoever registers pays the whole fee and settles up with their team themselves. Once per person means whoever registers shares a link with their team, and everyone joins and pays for their own place. Individual entrants already pay for themselves, so the choice only affects teams and pairs.
Where the fee is per person, Confirm a team once this many have paid decides when a side counts as in. Leave it empty to wait for everyone the team said it expects — sides are usually fielded with fewer.
Who covers the FairGame Payments fee is the last choice. Either it comes out of your proceeds, or it is added at checkout as a separate line so you receive the full entry fee. The second is usual for per-person entry.
The fee is 1.9% + 190 kr. per transaction, capped at 9.9%. The entry-fee field quotes the split live as you type it: at a given fee per team, what FairGame Payments takes and what you receive. When the person paying covers the fee, it quotes what they pay at checkout instead, and that you receive the full entry fee.
If you choose a paid model and leave the entry fee at 0, no money is collected — and the standard per-team publish charge applies after all. The field says so beside the number.
Opening registration and collecting
Turning on Open for registration lists the tournament on the registration page so clubs can sign up. You do not have to publish the tournament as well.
Set a deadline and the time zone it is read in; registration closes at the end of the deadline day in that zone. Leave the deadline empty to keep it open until you close it yourself.
Paid registrations are confirmed automatically once payment clears. A submission that has not paid sits at Awaiting payment, and Admit without payment lets you wave a team in anyway — the club that always pays by bank transfer, the team you comped.
Watching the money
Entry-fee payments on the Registration page shows collected, the FairGame Payments fee, net to your account, and what is still awaiting payment.
FairGame Payments collects entry fees on your behalf and holds them, minus the fee. FairGame does not hold bank details for your organization — contact info@fairgame.is to arrange payout and the net amount is transferred.
Vouchers
A voucher issued by FairGame covers one larger tournament's publish charge, whatever its size. You use it at the moment you publish the schedule: when the publish dialog shows Payment required to publish, choose Have a voucher code?, type the code into Voucher code and press Apply. The schedule is published straight away with nothing to pay, and the tournament stays covered for every later publish.
