Registration

Registration lets club coaches submit their own teams instead of emailing you a spreadsheet. You open the tournament, share one link, and review what arrives.

Manage → Registration is where it is opened, shared and reviewed.

Opening registration

Opening registration produces a join link for the tournament. Anyone with the link can submit a team: club, team name, category, and contact details. You decide what happens next — submissions are reviewed, and you approve or decline each one.

You can also cap how many places are available, which stops a popular age group filling past the number of matches you can physically schedule.

Who pays

Three models are supported, chosen when you set registration up:

  • The organizer pays. Clubs enter for free; you settle with FairGame.
  • Clubs pay. A club is charged when it registers a team.
  • Participants pay. Individual entrants pay their own way in.

The paid models run through FairGame's checkout, so a registration is complete when payment clears rather than when the form is submitted. Current prices are on the pricing and FAQ page.

Reviewing what arrives

Registrations land in a review list with the club, the team and the category requested. Approving one creates the real team in that category; declining it tells the club.

Two habits make the rest of setup much easier:

  • Approve into the right category immediately. Moving a team later is possible, but if fixtures already exist, moving it deletes them.
  • Collect the contact email at registration. It is the address announcements go to, and it is far easier to require now than to chase on the Friday.

Registration and the draw

Registration stays open while you are still filling the tournament, and should be closed before you generate fixtures and schedule. A team approved after the draw has to be placed into a group, which means regenerating that category's fixtures.

If you expect late entries, plan for one regeneration rather than several: set a deadline, close registration, then build the draw once.

Clubs that register several teams

A club entering four teams is a scheduling constraint, not just four rows. Make sure each submission is linked to the same club record — FairGame can then keep those teams from being scheduled at the same time, which is what the club's single set of coaches and one minibus actually require.
